  • Bulbs

    Hi all,

Just purchased some bulbs and planted them, theyre all happily bedded in and waiting for next spring - but Ive got just one question. Should I mulch them? I use a bark mulch on all my other plants but I wasn't sure if I should since the idea for it is is to simply repress weeds. Will it do the same to my bulbs when they try to come through?

If I shouldn't use mulch, is there some other type of weed suppressant I could use, or is it simply spot the weeds and pull then out?

    Thanks in advance.

I have added a compost mulch on top of mine for no other reason than it tidied the beds.

Mine are all mulched with wood chip and there is no problem with them pushing through, just keeps the weeds down.

What the mulch does is create a loose layer that weeds don't root deeply or hard into, so they are easier to pull out.
