  • How to prepare for next year

My mother in law asked me to get some advice from you clever folk. She's got flower (mostly) beds that she thinks are a bit depleted after years of growing and little being put back in. She's looking to dig in some nutrition now, in preparation for next spring. I over egged my veg patch last winter, throwing free council compost (soil enhancer), fish blood and bone, chicken poo and stable manure at it all at once. (Ah.. the impetuosity of the novice...). So I'd like to advise her with a more structured solution. We have plenty of still-warmish stable manure, multipurpose compost, chiken poo pellets, soil enhancer and fish blood and bone, so what is the best way forward please?
I'm thinking manure and soil enhancer only for the mo, but really would appreciate any suggestions. She'll be plantig a mix of stuff next year.

Herbaceous perennials benefit from splitting up and replanting. I prefer to use any organic material as a mulch so that as well as feeding the plants it acts as a weed suppressant and hold moisture for the dry summer months.
