...my roses and a couple lavenders? i've picked a few up cheap & wondering if im too late to put them in the ground or should leave them in their pots???

Providing they are hardened off, I would say they should be fine planted out from now on. Just prepare your site well and firm them in well to prevent wind rock. I am sure if i am mistaken someone more knowlegable will be along shortly- but thats what I would do personally"... discipline is what the world needs today and etiquette, you know.
