Border perenials

Hi everyone, I need some advice on what perennials I are best to be planted down the side of my path. I need to make a border either side to stop everyone cutting across the grass and also to add colour to the front of my house. I don't really mind what colours as long as they look nice. The border is going to be about a foot wide on either side. I was thinking of putting in some Daffs, snow drops and bluebells for the spring and in between some lovely summer/autumn blooming plants, so I have flowers most of the year. Can this be done? I think it would look lovely walking down the garden path with all these wonderful flowers on each side. Please can you give me some advice on what plants.

Its sunny and south facing.

I'd put some bushy lavenders in to give it a permanent structure or you may find, when the daffs etc die back it will become a through route again.

I'm liking a low hedge of box/hebe with more lavish plantings within them at the moment, a bit like Monty's jewel garden or like this

You haven't got that much room to play with ~ dwarf Lavenders would be good in a sunny spot, with spring, summer and autumn bulbs coming up through them

A foot wide really isn't wide enough to stop people continuing to step over unless you give them added incentive to walk round. How about putting dahlias in next year for late summer colour? That will give you the ideal excuse to put some canes in, which should be just about at crotch height - perfect for discouraging the postman and all those junk mail delivery blokes/lasses!
