My Fuschia is still flowering! It is in a container outside my front door, it seems to like it there. It is getting very bushy and big now. Should I split it up now or wait for the warmer weather? Oh and should I cut it right back over winter? Many thanks Csteve

What variety is it Steve, do you know? I wouldn't do anything at all to it until next Spring. The top growth will protect the roots and stems during the winter. BTW, fuchsias don't split - they stay as a single plant - but if you want to propagate more then stem tip cuttings root quickly in a glass of water.

No I havent got a clue what variety it is. I will do as you say and leave it well alone, how long will it take to root in the water?

It won't root in water this time of year, do it late spring-late summer.

They are autumn plants, really, they love the cooler weather. Some are tender (so will die outside in the winter) but others are hardy. You get little pretty ones, big old bushy ones, single ones, double ones ...

My outdoor fuschias get cut back in the Spring . When there are new shoots then cut back the old ones , they stay on over winter to help protect the plant.
Tender fuschias are now overwintering in the gh , hardly watered . Then in spring will start to spray with water to help wake them up .

Not usually, no. Cuttings root best from new tender growth, but I've managed to root cuttings of Blackie in the last fortnight.
