  • HELP! with sweetpeas

I've done a bit of a daft thing (no surprise there then!). This morning I put my sweetpea seeds in a jam jar with some water, to soak before planting this afternoon. However, I got side-tracked elsewhere in the garden, and have only just seen said jam jar with soaked seeds. It's dark, so I'm not sowing them now.
We are going away in the morning and won't be back until Monday night. I'm realistically unlikely to get chance to plant them in the morning, all though this is an option. So, I'm guessing to leave them in water until Tuesday isn't good. Should I drain them off, then re-soak them or drain them, and just plant them when I can?

Try putting them onto some kitchen towel on a saucer & cover over keep them dark & warm & they may start to grow then you can plant them up. I wouldn't leave them in the jar or anywhere sealed out of water as they will probably go mouldy.

A couple of days in water wouldn't be too bad, but preferably put them onto some damp kitchen towel in a container, cover with a lid or clingfilm and hopefully when you get back they will have started to sprout. You can then pot them up. LJ it's not too late to sow, they can be sown outdoors in April. However I've noticed lots of places are selling pots of sweet peas ready for planting out, so unless you want to grow a particular variety this may be a quicker way to flowers.

It's not too late LJ, I have done a sowing around June/July before now for some late blooms as they can run out of steam sometimes and I doo love them

If I may interject and give you the benefit of my in depth knowledge of this subject...... Lol!!!
Undeterred by previous unfortunate results, I have today put up a trellis (football net actually!) and planted on one side, sweetpeas I set away a month ago. On the other side I have made a second sowing direct into the soil.

            God loves a tri-er!!!!
