  • Rabbit eating my flowers

    Hi all

We have a pet rabbit that can run free in our garden. How can I stop it eating the flowers in the beds?
Putting fencing up isn't an option. Is there something I can buy etc to put down that's guaranteed??

    Thanks all

Basically no. I'm pretty sure a physical barrier would be the only way to stop them munching. Or to plant decoys at the front of the border of bunny favourites, such as nasturtiums, parsley, thyme, rosemary, mint etc. But bunnies are very inquisitive and love exploring so it wouldnt be long before they moved on to see what was behind whatever you planted.

Depending on big your flower borders are, you could do what we did last summer. We got some of that green plastic mesh stuff, put a couple of stakes in at either end of the bed to hook it on to and then we just put it up whenever they were out running and then took it down again when run-time was over so we could still enjoy our pretty flowers.

Something like this: Mesh - PVC 5m x 0.5m x 25mm, 5397007007022 or this: Climb plt mesh 5m x 1m, 5397007007473 so that you can roll it up and roll it open with ease.

Rabbits eat everything. It's their job.

Either fence in the rabbits, or the plants. Your choice

Yes, You're right Two Sheds! He's also good with general wildlife - doesn't bother the hedgehogs or frogs for instance, or the pond at all in fact, doesn't dig, as he's a well-behaved ( well mostly) older rescue chap - just the poops to deal with, which I got a dog-poo wormery for ( which I kinda gave up on and have to get going again lol)
