ID help please.

Hi

I have spotted two different plants in my garden today which I'm not sure of. The first one is growing where my peony is beginning to come through:



The second is growing in two different pots - no label. I'm not sure if it's something I've bought or has self set.

The second one looks like Gaillardia to me.

1. looks fleshy: sedum?
2. dunno, but I pull it up as a weed

I would suggest the first is a sedum and the second looks like juv foliage of poppy

I agree with previous posters - The first......Sedum (Ellacombeanum)?

The second...not sure yet lol ....

second one looks like a plantain type weed to me, but i'm notoriously bad at identifying things....

Can't help feeling that the 2nd one is a flower and not a weed. Greengage could be right and its a poppy.
I'm a sucker when it comes to plants - if its not an obvious weed I let them live, just in case!! I'd probably plant it out in some out of the way spot and see what develops.

second one doesn't look like a poppy to me .........Leave it in a pot and see what happens .

Ok you've convinced me - number 2 has been given a last minute reprieve!

Yeahh!! Another innocent plant lives on to see another dawn, to feel the rain on its leaves and the sun on its petals (Don't you dare let me down, plant -not now after all this)

Let me know if the second one turns to be a Gaillardia. I have lots of these round my garden and they are definitely worth keeping.

Capsid, I'm prepared to be wrong, but the leaves in the OP photo are distinctly lobed: the leaves of the gaillardia in your photo are smooth
