  • Plant identification help please!

I've discovered a rather large vine like plant snaking along my paving slabs.

It looks very very similar to a pea plant with long thin green tendrils and teeny tiny pink flowers that look like sweet peas but in miniature.

I was very disappointed to discover they don't hold any scent.

    What is this plant?

Is it a wild sweet pea?
I was thinking about pulling it up and growing it against my trellis but its stems are incredibly weak and flimsy as its been growing along the floor rather than up a support.
Or should I just dispose of it?

Don't know what to do really

It sounds like a vetch. Here are some photos of the common vetch. Common Vetch (ssp segatalis)
If you like it, and its not in your way, leave it alone.

      I usually leave it be.

        That is definately my plant.

I have a designated wild flower patch in my garden, this plant can't stay where it is though; its making my garden look a mess.

Unless its especially good for wildlife?
Attracting birds, bees etc i think i will dispose of it.
Or maybe try and get it to grow up my trellis......

Why don't you leave it to set seed, then scatter the seeds in your wild flower patch. I couldn't, just couldn't, pull it up because its untidy!

If I was to do that would it grow up my fence or sprawl along the floor?
My wild flowers are pretty dense and cramped.

Can't you just push it to the back of your path, its a sprawler not a climber. It would probably rest on top of some of your other flowers.

The neighbours don't "get it" and OH says the front is "a mess" ~ (it's cottage garden style, albeit in a suburban estate, where "neat garden" equates to brickweave drive with a sad little tub of petunias)

No, I love it Two Sheds. I love a mass of stuff growing like that. Except in summer when there's probably a mass of snakes hiding in there.

Ha!...2sheds...you should see my flower beds!

I've spent most of the day weeding- and yes, we have a lot of vetch too.
