Bedding plant question.

Im going to get some bedding plants later this month to brighten the garden up but Im abit unsure of what to get (the garden centre had tons of stuff and I didnt know which way to look!LOL).
I have some flower pouches to hang on a fence post and also a couple of nice smallish tubs. So what would be good to go in the pouches (something that will trail and produce enough flowers and/or foliage to cover the bags) and what would be good for the tubs (maybe something with more height that will flower for a long time).
Any suggestions???

I like Surfinia in my baskets KG and they'd smother your pouches with flowers. Bizzie Lizzie last quite a while, as do snapdragons (antirrhinums) to go in your tubs. Keep it cheap and cheerful is what I say! I'm sure others will be along soon with more suggestions for you.

Trailing Lobelia is a classic for baskets and you can get upright ones for beds. Often see photos of those planting pouches stuffed with Lobelia in seed catalogues. Actually, get hold of a catalogue for ideas. As said, petunias are great, flower their hearts out. Begonias are tough as old boots and fairly drought resistant and marigolds are easy and easy on the pocket.

Everyone has their favs KG so by the time you have finished here, it'll be like being back in the garden center..................so for my twopenneth it would be Geraniums. Trailers in the pouches and standards in the pots.

I like calibrachoa (million bells) and bacopa for trailers. Sweet alyssum is a low ground-cover type that would be nice around the edges of tubs - smells of honey and flowers like mad. I'm trying stocks this year, one of my favourite cut flowers, also a lovely scent. And I'm on the lookout for some heliotrope plants, again for the fragrance! I just like smelly things, apparently.

Violas - These hardy little plants never cease to amaze me! I have done nothing at all to window box/baskets and they just come back time after time and survive the rain AND the sunshine extremes, we've been having lately...

I was looking to replace my spring hanging baskets with summer ones. Has anyone bought the pre-planted versions from Suttons? Are they good quality or would I be best doing my own baskets? Was thinking of the Surfinia baskets.
