Wierd Iris-thingy...

I found this lurking behind my raspberries and horseradish.

It is currently distributing the tiniest seeds each time the stalk with the ripe seed head is moved - its lovely!

Anyone know what it is? (sorry about the rubbish photos)

Ooooh, its lovely! And not a triffid, so I can nurture it and move it and grow more.....

I'm having a fab day - cucs and Sisyrinchium thingies all growing by themselves!

AND, my Snakeshead Fritillara has started producing seed too - this must be what it feels like to be a Mum!!

Just for you VVG I've been out in the pouring rain - at least 1" so far this morning, and taken these to show you the little blue Sissy wot'sit that you chose for me at Malvern!! They've closed up to keep the rain out - think I will too

They are so beautiful VC! Do they have rhizomes like Iris? I want to dig my sissy-wotsit up so I can put it somewhere where it can be seen.

Also, I'd like to take it (or it progeny) to Devon when we ever get a buyer for this place!!! Now I've got it, I ain't about to let it go....

I think the little Sissys would split into sections, by the look of them. I've only had them a few weeks so haven't tried anything yet. I used to have the big Sissy that you have in my last house. Its does spread well and seeds were easy, IIRC.

She, Mrs Malvern Meconopsis, has flowered and there are seed heads forming!! Guess what I'll collecting soon! How are yours doing?

Still waiting to get planted, but aside from that they are ok and petal less in this weather.

I have sissys in the garden. Thought I'd lost them a couple of years ago then noticed a couple of baby ones growing through a crack in the pavement. Carefully dug them out and relocated and they've happily grown to big clumps Can't seem to be able to get the seed to germinate tho'

Hey, it does split rally easily and Seems to perk up even, when given a bit more space.

Thanks QotC. I think I'll look out for some big yellow Sissys and grow them again. I'd forgotten all about them until this thread started.
