  • Can anyone identify this for me?

I found this plant growing in my border last year, tried to pull it up, but obviously didn't kill it, as it's back again. To be honest, I didn't let it flower last year, maybe I should have as it's quite attractive. Despite numerous searches I haven't been able to find it, but I don't know if it is a weed or 'cultivated'. I haven't ever seen this before.
It is growing with a cornflower and a dianthus, the plant to be identified has pink star shaped flowers and grey green pointed 'leaves'. The last picture is probably the clearest of the whole plant.

I think it may be a salsify flower - did you plant some that went to seed and reappeared in the borders?

I agree with Jeanie - my money's on salsify! Didn't someone else ask about this recently?

Solved my mystery too, I wondered what it was. Nicos, I have some seed I will let you have some next time I see you.

That's interesting, I've never grown it, so didn't know what it would look like, and was looking for a flower, rather than a veg.
I was thinking I'd save some seeds as I liked the flower, maybe I'll need to grow some for eating too.

I didn't see a previous post on this, if I'd seen the flower picture I might have realised what it was, but as I didn't have any idea where it came from, identifying it was proving very hard.
