  • First Flowers?

First Hollyhock flower - yay - despite all the rain
    Pinks are also flowering well

What flowers are you celebrating seeing 'first flowers' on despite all this weather?

The ones I always wait for are the huge red Oriental Poppies. They've been and gone, but the black elder with it's pink flowerheads is looking good.

The sunflowers have come out...looking confused as to the lack of it. They're Russian giants and should be 8ft tall but are 4ft. Oh well, at least they've flowered!

Honeysuckle! We only planted it last year so we are very pleased to see delightful, scented flowers on it.

            First sweetpeas here too!

I'm loving the livingstone daisys that have been flowering the last week or so - what a lovely bright splash of colour, I'll definitely be sowing those again.

Lupins have been flowering for a while, but my pride and joy are the Sweet Peas - I've never grown them before and this week I picked the first one's for the house

My dark velvet red rose with a glorious perfume - called 'Deep Secret' - it starts flowering around midsummer and keeps going till the frosts.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I put in loads of Anemones in the spring, and to see them flowering is wonderful I've even got enough to cut for the house Double joy!

My nasturtiums have just started to flower in the last week or two, I love their bright vibrant colours. My borage plants are flowering as well, I love seeing the bees all over them.

The one flower that I loved seeing this year was the purple honesty I sowed and planted last year, I had completely forgotten about and the bright purple flowers were just gorgeous a few months ago.

My first year of growing nasturtiums and I must say I love how vigorously and reliably they grow - have had a few salads of their flowers and leaves and love the peppery taste
