Anyone know what this is?

It's the grassy thing in the photo. To the right of the greenhouse door.

Looks like a grass, the leaves are very sharp but it almost grows like an iris at the base, it clumps. And it definitely seeds as there are babies anywhere. Tops of the 'shoots' that come from the centre out are 6ft tall.

I need to know what it is as I mutter it's name abusively under my breath - and if it's worth growing some of the shoots on and selling them then I'll do that.

If its what I think it is, its really invasive - self seeds everywhere. You find it by roadsides and edges of pavements. Sorry I don't know what its called - but I'll not be buying it!

I think it might be a Carex.

Horrid stuff. Why anyone would plant it next to a walkway I'll never know!

I shall continue on the path of 'get rid'.

I would definitely plant it next to a walkway - it would keep people OUT!

It's not a stipa. I like a stipa. It's too sharp, almost yukka ish

Probably - although I take issue with Japanese Anemone being a thug!

I have that carex pendula in my garden, front and back: I can't think how it got there, I didn't buy it.
