    How little soil? The bulbs should have double their height of soil, above them. So, if the bulb is an inch tall, it should have 2" of soil above it.

    Plus enough soil underneath, for the roots to go down into.

      The bulbs are mostly covered with soil, just; and there may be soil below. But they are on top of a wall at my local train station, so I probably shouldnt even be up there. The bulbs are out of sight and were given to us for free

        Nice idea FG but I wouldn't hold your breath for flowers! Throw some flower seeds there as well

          I was thinking about taking a bag of compost/soil up there. It was covered with moss, so probably not a good sign. I can get up there again, on a quiet sunday morning, best not fall off tho. It starts low, and then gets higher and higher, towards the tunnel.
