  • Borders vs pots

Hello, I've got a couple of plants that I've put in pots, and am wondering if they would be ok in a border? My thoughts were that I would keep them in pots for a couple of years till they were established and then transfer to a nice gap in my border. Am wondering if I need to be that cautious really.

I've got a tree peony and some agapanthus.

My garden is rather cold and only a small part of it regularly gets the sun, so I can move the pots around and give them a bit of a longer warming.

    Thanks.

Agapathus flower better with constricted roots so tend to flower better in pots. They do need good sunshine. Can't help with the tree peony but I'm sure someone will be along who can.

I would put the tree peony in the ground. East facing and where it gets protection from frost. They are hardy but the flower buds are destroyed by frost. As Wendy says keep the agapanthus in a pot all its life. They will go in the ground but will not flower as well.
