  • Dahlia no sign of life

    Hi everyone,

I have some lifted dahlia's from last year and they have no sign of growth on them
is it too early, perhaps another few weeks? or are they likely dead.
Also bought some new ones about a month ago as I always loose a few each year, and out of 8 only 3 are showing any sign of shoots, must admit they were cheapies from a well known store, but thats not a good percentage, and of course didn't keep my receipt.
Or is it just too early yet, and i'm expecting too much after having a few days of sun.

      Hi rustlady,
mainly in the polytunel, the lifted ones are in empty window boxes just loose, and the new bought
ones are still in there wrapping under the bench in the greenhouse, I left some in the ground from last year, there showing no sign above ground.
As i say the only ones showing any life are the couple of new bought ones.

Right, to start them into growth you need to put them into pots or trays of moist compost. Get your new ones out of the wrappings asap, they'll rot in there.

Mine have only just sprouted this week. In an unheated gh, lowest temp has been 9c, highest about 22c
