Wide saucer-shaped flower planter - anyone ...?

I'm looking for a large oval shaped (or circular) planter. I saw three alongside each other filled with white hyacinths at Kerkenhof in Holland which were absolutely stunning and ever since I have wanted one in my front garden - not necessarily full of hyacinths now as they are finished but perhaps geraniums for the summer. Next spring I can think about hyacinths. The planter is about 3' wide (or perhaps slightly less) and around 12" in depth, flat-bottomed then curving slightly upwards. Shaped, in fact, like a huge bowl.

Have looked on the internet but cannot see it. I know they're around as I've seen one in someone's garden. Anyone know where I might get one, please?

Thanks Rustylady. Those look really classy, don't they ! Tbh, I was hoping for something cheaper - perhaps in terracotta resin. Will keep looking for a while longer but will certainly bear those in mind. If anyone comes across anything cheaper please let me know.

If my memory isn't too addled, we layered sheet fibreglass over a mould, like an upturned bowl and sanded it down afterwards (that bit could be wrong )

That's certainly a new twist and would be a lot cheaper but my sculpture skills are virtually non-existant. I will research it further though. Ideally I'm expecting to pay around �40-�50 for a ready made planter. Because of the size, I only want one, but it will need to be fairly robust as I shall be filling it with soil. Ideal size 3' across and 12" down.

Anyone see Keukenhof on Gardener's World last night? I cannot recommend highly enough a visit to this wonderful place, not only for the stunning array of flowers everywhere but for ideas on planting, colours and design. It's where I got my idea of a huge saucer-shaped planter from and which I am still pursuing. My idea is to use the base of an old water feature made in terracotta-coloured resin. It is rather shallow but I am sure it will accommodate many smaller plants. There may be a problem with drainage as it doesn't have any holes in the bottom, but I'm going to give it a go. I'll post a picture if I am successful.

Thanks Bearded Bloke. The first link is interesting. I rummaged through some pics I took when visiting Keukenhof and, hooray, found this. This is what I saw. Obviously too late for hyacinths but it would look stunning full up with one particular flower. Anyone any suggestions of what flower that could be, bearing in mind my planter will be a light terracotta colour?

I hadn't thought of that but you're quite right it is a Wok-style planter. The second link is perfect. In fact I've just spoken to the people. The largest one would be the closest to what I'm looking for. It comes at �55 plus �15 for delivery and they will drill drainage holes. But I'm very pleased that at last I have found the perfect thing. I shall have a go with my the old water feature base this year that I found tucked away in my garage. If that fails then I'll buy this one which will be perfect for hyacinths next year. I'm sorry I don't know the name of the fern.

Update on the saucer-shaped planter

Thank you to everyone who helped with my query about finding a saucer-shaped planter to try to produce the display I saw at Keukenhof in Holland, which was filled with Hyacinths. Unfortunately it took so long to find a suitable cheap planter that I was too late for Hyacinths. In the end I used this water feature base found discarded in the garage and filled it with Asters. This is how it is looking now, which I think has turned out rather better than I expected. Click on the photo for a bigger view.

My intention is to fill it with Hyacinths for next year, if I can find a company that has them on offer. I may need around 40 bulbs.

I like you find any group of a single variety stunning. Hence my choice in the garden or in planters is to always plant the one variety and one colour together with a very odd exception where I put two contrasting colours together. Parkers wholesale [make sure it is their wholesale site ] sell bulbs and plants and fruit at great prices. eg 10 x hyacinth white pearl for �2 .09. There is a catch though for those who only want a very small order -- they except you to place an order of �50 or more or they add on a levy, vat is to be added and some postage cost. However the prices are so discounted I find its easy to spend 50 pound plus or what about sharing an order with friends.

Where did you get in from in the end, as it looks different to the one you mentioned where they'd drill drainage holes in?
