Yes, I did remember it - hemlock looks like cowparsley, apart from the purple splodges. The foliage is a bit carrotty.
Identification - Anthriscus sylvestris and Conium maculatum (Cow parsley and hemlock)
My garden is full of cow parsley at the moment - the perfume is overwhelming.

        It probably is VC.

I've finally got around to reading River Cottage Handbook No7 tonight and spotted the Hemlock Water Dropwort and had an EEK moment coz it looked a lot like my plant and seemingly smells just as bad lol so I googled it and I'm just not sure now

I hoe out the tree seedlings. There's one on the street just in front of our house, and at the end of autumn last year we hoovered all the leaves up and threw them on the front border (instant mulch, you see)

            . . .

But thankfully a hoe-ing got rid of most of them, and a second hoe-ing got rid of the rest.
Forgive me for my pages of text.

VC, I meant to come back to this thread a few weeks ago with a photo. You were right on the ball, it was definately Feverfew.

It has gone to seed now and i'll save some.

You're such a whizz at this stuff, thanks everyone
