I was wondering does rose seeds come from those round balls we used to call itchy backs when we were little?

I was told they came from rosehip and when I looked them up online they look like the things we would split open as kids and put em down each others backs, (charming kids we were)

Hi as an experiment one year I tried growing from the rosehips and although I must have looked after 20 seeds one did actually grow. Can't remember how I did it though??
