  • How many plugs for hanging basket??

I have three 11 inch rattan hanging baskets and a 30cm containers.
I currently have 10 upright zonal geraniums and 10 ivy trailing geranium (all mixed colours).

Can any one advise me how many upright and trailing geraniums should be planted in each hanging basket? Tried to read around this and it seems like it's best not to overcrowd it too much as get less flowering?? Would 1-2 upright and 2-4 trailing per basket be about right?

Also for 30cm container, I've planted 3 upright different coloured geraniums - pot looks a little empty but guess it will fill out as they grow on. I read that for round pot, odd number of plants provide a better display. Any advice??

    Thanks

I plant 3 trailing geraniums per hanging basket and feed soluble feed. Keep in the greenhouse and put out early June when it's warm (well I hope!).

By then the basket is full, by July there is no sign of any compost nor any space...

I don't do geraniums (not really sunny enough), I do petunias and lobelia, and put 6 petunias and 6 plugs of lobelia in each one. They get seaweed solution each time I water.

      Endless wonder.
