Hibiscus advice

I have a hibiscus in my conservatory which I was thinking about planting out, in a new flowerbed. Any advice??

I used to have a Hibiscus and every year it was covered in buds & every year the damn things never open So I dug it out in the end. Is it the same sort as you buy for out doors JB? But I guess living on Jersey your climate is a tad warmer than here in Warwickshire

Not sure, I have a limited gardening experience. It has red flowers, is all I can say. Probably prefers indoors. I wondered if anyone had tried it outside, as thats where my space is in a sunny bed.
I thought if it spread it would look good.

All I know about Hibiscus shrubs that are grown outside, and therefore hardy, are that they take an absolute AGE to show leaf in the spring, so you think they haven't survived the winter, and then they start sending out leaves and you're fine then.... They are quite beautiful, Blue, White and another colour, but I forget now. Sorry, just reminis.... remembering to way back when...

Thanks guys. NTG very good link. I realise now its not that simple, but interesting regardless. Will think if its worth the risk.
Thought about putting it outside in its pot and seeing how it does. If not good bringing it in.
I have a knowledgeable gardener visiting this pm ., will ask advice.
