  • Recommend flower seeds for an indoor display trough

Normally a veg grower so somewhat in enemy territory here.

    Still ...
In work we have a very sunny windowsill in the brew room.
I was thinking of some pots or small trough for some flowers.
Not too tall and I would be sowing them now.
Nice and colourful and preferably long lasting.

We already have some toms and chilies growing, but a bit more colour would be nice.

Any ideas on what sort of seeds I could use ?

    Thanks
    Jimmy

French marigolds are pretty undemanding. They were the first flowers I grew from seed about 30 years ago! Might be a little late from seed now, but a few plants from the garden centre won't be too dear.

The Higgledy Garden Complete Cut Flower Patch. Spring 2013 Collection. | | Higgledy Garden

Not that I'm necessarily recommending higgledygarden, but his site is all about growing flowers - with a major interest in cut flowers.

I'd not bother with the flowers and do some lettuce instead to go with your toms!

          Thanks for the replies.
Marigolds might be good I have some seeds and plants that I have grown for my borders.

I sowed two trays, one with slightly older seeds so I put "plenty" in each slot. Not one of the older seeds came up. I had one tray with loads in each slot and one tray with absolutely nothing! So I thinned one tray and put the thinnings in the other. So I now have two trays.

Anyone else seen this with old Marigold seeds. I would have expected a least a few to struggle through.
