    First time I've had success with it! What do I do now it's dying back? It's messy, but I certainly don't want to lose it. Do I cut it back to the roots? Help!

    No you can just leave it - it will come back next year. If you plant it under Japanese Anemone as one dies back, the other takes over.

      I generally cut it back hard to where, hopefully, you will see some green shoots nearer the base. It will regrow back nice and bushy and green.
