  • Drying bulbs for next year

Well I had a few daffs and tulips in pots this year but I want to dry them and plant them up the allotment how would I do that??

Let them die back and when the leaves are all dead knock them out of the pot and store somewhere dry until you need to replant them. Having said that I rarely bother with tulip bulbs. They tend to split into smaller bulbs which may take several years before bulking up to flowering size again.

I would just lay the pots on their side so the compost dries out. Unless you need the pots leave them like that until planting time when you can separate the bulbs and put them wherever you want them.

Ok I suppose I should put the pots in the shed to stop the wetting process to?

I don't really need the pots so no worries there thanks Wendy and RL

How are they going to get wet laid on their sides Darcy? Anyway, when you think about it, daffs and tulips left in the ground don't get dried out and stored do they?
