  • Pretty ground cover?

Does anyone have any ideas for something I can plant during the next month or so as ground cover for an area I have just weeded? It needs to be prettyish, either nice leaves or flowers. It'll be going into a large area around & in between some established shrubs.
I know nothing about non-edibles so any ideas gratefully received.

Ideally you'd have things already ready in a tray. I never weed an area unless I have something ready to go in immediately, and I always have a few spare trays of limnanthes sitting around

Limnanthes is good, quick and cheap

RHS Plant Selector Limnanthes douglasii AGM / RHS Gardening

It ticks all the boxes: bee food, ground cover, weed suppressor, self-seeds, green manure, hardy*

*in my area. Maybe not in colder areas, but it does come back in the spring from self-seeding

I just mean, it's going to take a few weeks for anything to grow, and in the meantime the weeds will try taking over your weeded patch.

So, rather than weed and wait, have something waiting & ready to go in

Very funny veggiechicken : ) - I went for a walk on the Malvern's yesterday and looked over into lovely lush Wales. What a beautiful country.

The Malverns are pretty special too - and I have a soft spot for Gloucestershire as my father's family roots are there
