  • Greenfly EVERYWHERE!!

My sweet peas are literally dripping with greenfly I have never experienced such an intense plague. Not a single lady bird insight. How come?

Because there haven't been enough aphids for them to feed on this year, so they haven't been about.

Not much help I know but earlier in the year I had a bad infestation of greenfly in the poly tunnel. One day when the weather was warmer The tunnel was full of hoverflys and within few days there were no greenfly.

I've had very few aphids this year - my main problem has been caterpillars.

What I don't understand is there are literally millions of aphids in the garden but no Lady Birds. Last year there was a plague of them. Nature is strange!

The aphids have only just arrived. The ladybirds came out of hibernation and there weren't enough aphids around to support a large population of ladybirds.
