  • Growing tuberous begonias from seed

Hi, just wondering if anyone does this? I'm thinking of Begonia Nonstop for my main bedding plants next year. But as they are tuberous, if you grow them from seed (say in January) would you get a good display in the first summer? I presume the tubers will only be growing over that first summer.
So I dont know whether I should rely on them or not.

    Thanks!

I got very small seedlings this year of tuberous trailing begonias and despite the chilly start, mine are still in full flower and looking superb. so if you get the seed in early enough (jan/feb) and keep them warm, id say they'd be superb.

Excellent, thanks Andy! I plan to start them early alright and mollycoddle them.
I've been reading that they prefer semi shade. Part of my display would be in full sun. Were any of yours? Wondering if they would be killed off in those conditions or is it more a case of not quite as good as in semi-shade.
      Thanks
