  • What's still flowering in your flower bed?

I'm new to this flower growing malarky and I'm wondering what is currently providing you with colour/interest in your flower beds at the moment!

I've got the following still flowering at home:

    A pretty, white, dwarf gaura
    A pink agastache
Salvia Japonica - Red Velvet and Moonlight Serenade
    Scabiosa
Verbena (bonariensis maybe - tall and vivid purple flowers)
    Cyclamen
My hyssop which looked like it was done has put on another load of flowers
Oh, and a few sunflowers left on the lottie!

In the garden which i manage, the times of interest always seemed to be spring and autumn. There was never anything to bridge that gap between the end of the spring bulbs and the autumn colours.

So i ripped out all the boring shrubberies and filled them with summer flowering herbaceous perennials. As a result, i now have a garden full of colour. Got a few gaps so i have 700 herbaceous coming tomorrow.

        At present, i have....

        Helenium
        Salvia
        Guara
        Persicaria
        Perovskia
        Coreopsis
        Penstemons
        Lobelia cardinalis
        Pontederia
        Fuschia genii
        Phlox paniculata
        Rosa flower carpet scarlet
        Rudbeckia goldstorm
        Eupatorium maculatum

Im sure there's a few more. Got a facebook page if anyone wants to visit and have a look https://www.facebook.com/PrestonRockGarden

My flower garden is fading rather quickly, but still flowering are autumn aster, nasturtiums, nicotiana, erigeron, and calendula. Cosmos, crocosmia and sweet peas are starting to die back, but there's still a few.

The wildflower patch is faring better - still lots of corn marigolds, clovers, ox-eye daisies, thistles, cornflowers, and a few field poppies.

I'm more of a shrubby person so have hydrangeas and fuchsias with hardy geraniums at their feet. - apart from one called Ann Folkard who scrambles up through the branches and spreads herself about in a rambling sort of way (I think that's why I like her)
Cyclamen in the lawn and Japanese anenomes dotted about. Also Garlic chives in flower - very pretty and smell of roses

                      I have:

lots of Penstemon in various shades of pink, white and purple putting on a fine show
lots of Gazanias also going great guns
                      some roses
                      Coreopsis "Sunrise"
                      a few straggly hollyhocks
Some spectacular large early-flowering Chrysanthemums in golden yellow
Dahlias don't want to stop flowering yet either
Nicotiania bedding plants as well as Begonias and blue and white Lobelia
Aubretia that thinks it's spring already
                      Lavender (nearly over)
another herbacious perennial that I can't remember the name of just now but it's really good

I need more stuff. Definitely want some japanese anemones and some Phlox paniculata. Also some Rudbeckias, can never have too much yellow!

                          Wow! Fantastic!

That's LOTS of things for me to start googling and thinking about adding for next year!

It's interesting to see how many things have finished flowering in my garden that are still flowering for other people too.

I think I need to be a little more on top of my dead heading to try and help some of them along a bit next year!
