In fact if you let them dry out they die... the only time I've managed to keep them going is when I planted them in a pondside bog garden. They loved it there and flowered their heads off.

There are lots of different Astilbes now and I love them. I actually haven't had any trouble growing them either. I grew three in pots then transferred them to the garden where it is shady but not overly damp. Only thing I find is that the colours fade quite quickly and become brownish. Still lovely structurally though.
