Will Lilies grow in Spain??

Can anyone tell me if Lillies will grow successfully in Spain. I know some varieties hail from turkey and Spain. However I had in mind the large beautiful ones we sell in garden centres. The pack type ...stargazer etc. my idea is as a Christmas gift for someone who lives there most of the year. I thought she could pot them up on a shady verandah.

I can confirm that they grow well in Greece - if it helps

I can see Spain from here and mine do fine in pots, although it rarely gets warmer than low forties.
