....cos I've brought two David Austin roses in the garden centre sale! They were half price , so two for price of one! I've always considered roses to be 'old lady' flowers ( sorry if I've offended anyone !) but they have suddenly appealed to me. I got Anne Boleyn and Munstead Wood. Both short bushy, repeat flowering type.I have a flower bed where my late husband cleared an old conifer for me last year. It's by my back door so I thought I'd plant it up with 'pretty' stuff as I'll be able to see it while I'm washing up.
Any hints and tips before I plant them?

Tips????......yeh...I'd go back and get a couple more at that price!!!!

Munstead Wood is a lovely colour, supposed to have good scent too

You could use some of those pellets of micorrhyzal fungi to get them off to a good start. They also like a bit of fish blood and bone in the planting hole.

They like horse poo, too.

I love Roses, always have. Munstead Wood is lovely. Another favourite is Roseraie de l'haye. Be careful, though, once you start collecting, it does become addictive.

Will have to get some horse poo then !! I'm starting to think they might additive , quite like the idea of a rose bed now.

I planted a bush Iceberg for my OH - he loved the little buttonhole roses - and underplanted with snowdrops as his birthday was early January.
