  • Numpty Neighbour's Hyacinth

The lady that sits next to me at work would like your assistance please

She has a single bulb hyacinth and when she went to stake it she accidentally stuck the stick through the stem. The flowers have now shrivelled and gone blackish. They had already been in bloom for a week or so. Has she killed it or was it time for the flowers to go over anyway?

And, what should she do with the bulb now?

leave the plant to grow on till the leaves die back normally. Then let it dry out in its pot. Then lift and clean bulb. Replant in the garden next year

Yes, they don't last long at all, esp if they're in a warm place

I CBA to do all that drying & cleaning (AP is much more disciplined than me), I just let the leaves die back in a hidden-away place, then plant the bulb in the garden.
