Will flowers grow in shade/partial shade?

I'm a new gardener and have been reading a lot about growing fruit and veg, but I don't know much about flowers. I want to plant flowers in my garden too, and thought I could use the spaces not needed for the fruit and veg. Generally these are the shady spots. Can flowers grow well in shade and partial shade? In particular I am interested in wild flowers, lavender and honeysuckle.

Think lavender will be ok, is quite hardy, I've only used plants mind you, honeysuckle I really don't know anything about

There are many flowers which will grow in shade and part shade. I'm afraid lavender isn't one of them. Plants with grey or silvery leaves need sun, as many are Mediterranean in origin. Is your shade particularly dry, for example under trees or close to a wall. Honeysuckle will be fine, it is after all a woodland plant. You could try hardy geraniums especially phaeum, astilbe, foxgloves, aquilegia, corydalis, some lilies don't mind a bit of shade. That's just a few off the top of my head.

Snowdrops,bluebells,celandine,primrose,aconite,crocus,daffodil go for a walk in your local woodland & note the flowers that appear as the seasons change,you will be suprised how many there are

What Wendy says, Lavender will struggle in shade.
To add to that list, I've had success with Phlox (paniculata) in full shade with damp soil. Also tobacco (Nicotiana) are really easy to grow from seed sown indoors in March, they will flower from the summer to the frosts.

Some flowering plants need to grow in partial or complete shade..Since they are tender and the flowers would change its colour easily...
