British Grown Valentines Flowers

I am lucky enough to know a lady that grows and sells flowers from a farm in Somerset, Yesterday I went to help with the Valentines rush. It was a lovely experience which you can read about on my blog

I like to try and buy British grown cut flowers. The ones imported from far away lands are so often grown in an almost permanent mist of chemicals by an exploited workforce being slowly poisoned by the same chemical sprays. Unfortunately they can be hard to come by in these parts (the florist informs me that most end up in London and the affluent south) and when they are available they are very expensive. Hence Mrs snuffer doesn't get flowers very often. That's my excuse anyway.

There was something of the tele last month...that series with different presenters per subject....about British grown flowers and how hard it was to find them.
One of the reasons I stooped buying high airmile flowers!

If I'm lucky for Valentine's day I'll get a small bunch of greenery from the garden with a few unopened daffs in it!...and yup...I'll be thrilled

Having said all that...the blog piccies are wonderful...it looked like a fun day!

I would hate to see Mrs snuffer loose out if you look at this web page it shows British flower growers in your area.. it would mean lots of brownie points I am sure
