Winchester Cathedral is an English type white rose bred by David Austin. This is a Shrub Rose. They are much more expensive than the Bush Rose types as previously discussed and are at least a foot taller (Iceberg excepted). These are usually best grown as a standalone background rose mixed with other plants although there is no golden rule how you arrange or grow them.

Another great white rose which I'm growing for the first time and currently looks very healthy and vigorous is A Whiter Shade Of Pale which like Margaret Merril has a blush in the centre of its bloom. It's foliage is purple while young It's also highly scented but don't know yet if the blooms will withstand rain well.Originally posted by robmarston View PostThanks bend1. Let me know how you get on with that one. Do you know much about Winchester cathedral?Last edited by bend1pa; 24-05-2014, 08:24 PM.

Rambling Rector puts on a great show at this time of year:
It's a shame it only flowers the once. Also it's ridiculously vigorous!Attached Files
