We've got severe gales forecast for tonight, so I thought I'd go up to the allotment and cut a few flowers before they get ruined by the wind. Amazed to find so many plants still in bloom in October.
Here's my pickings - sunflowers, calendula, verbena, rudbeckia, salvia viridis, nigella, ox-eye daisy, cosmos and sweet pea.
The salvia viridis is the bright blue flower in the left foreground, its from the sage family and the blue 'flowers' are actually leaves. My first year of growing it and I really recommend it.
