  • Plant ids anyone?

The pink flowering one is, I believe, a form of nepeta (has spicy foliage).

The blue flowering one may be a weed, but has aromatic foliage, so decided to keep it.

The first one is a grass of some type, and grows everywhere.

    Many thanks.

    My guesses are :-

The grass is invasive - I'd get rid of that
The yellow one is yellow Corydalis
The one with a white stripe on the leaf is a Lamium/ Dead nettle
The last one looks like ivyleaf toadflax

      Cheers VC

the stripey one does look like a Lamium, like the 2nd one below:

The other is defo yellow Corydalis.

The grass seems to get everywhere, not sure what it is called.

The grass is a sedge I think. Agreed with other identifications.

No 2 has self- seeded all over my front garden and in the pavement beyond and in neighbour's gardens. Nice yellow flowers, but a bit invasive - not too difficult to pull up but you need to keep on top of it.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

              1. is carex pendula: it's incredibly difficult to get rid of & seeds itself like mad
              2.
              3. red dead nettle: seeds like mad, and stinks
              4.

Another vote for ground ivy for number 4. You can eat it, although I've never tried it. It doesn't grow much round here.

Thanks all. I rather like the scent of the lamium, quite spicy, but then I'm a herb man at heart.

Think you're right about the ground ivy. The variegated type used to be sold as 'nepeta veriegated' I believe, and does have a similar habit and scent.
