  • Needing some flower advice :D

Soooo.... My aunty is finally getting her garden back this month as her son is moving out (he has been using it for all of his weight lifting stuff) and I would love to help out and grow some flowers that will bloom this year.

I think she is just gonna have borders as she likes to entertain on the lawn the garden is quite sunny on most of it all day.

So if anyone can list me some seeds that I can sow next week and will flower this year Id be most greatful.

    So far Ive got
    Poached eggs
    larkspur
    nasturtiums
    sunflowers

    Thanks guys
    Jen

You could try cosmos and marigolds - they have just germinated on my plot from seeds shed last year.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Stocks, the 10 week ones - wonderful scent. Alyssum along the front, again a lovely scent, still time for marigolds I think. To fill up bare earth between, buy some little plugs of trailing lobelia, and it will ramble among all the other flowers.

Only if you start them off indoors in like February, then they will put out a small spike in late summer.

Sown at this time of year they'll probably just make plants to flower next year.

If we have a mild autumn they may do, generally you sow early spring for this year, or late summer to flower next year. Worth a try, 'cos they'll be there next year anyway.

edit - pipped me at the post Martin
