Need to try and identify these.

Hi everyone.

A few weeks ago I had been given a lot of plant pots, amongst other things, thanks to an ad I placed on a recycling website.
A few of these pots were in a dark, shady corner of the garden and in one of the containers I had these.





I left them in a sun trapped area of my garden to give them a bit of a perking up and I was wondering if anyone knows what they are?

I quite like the look of them and I would be more than happy to plant them somewhere in my garden, or as part of an arrangement in pots.

Looks a bit like that invasive grass - whose name I forget!! ?Carex summat

When I first looked I thought it may be crocosmia but the leaves look a bit firm/shiny for that...so probably a grass as VC has already said. Keep it in a pot for a bit and see how it grows over the summer.

BTW don't let that little violet loose in the garden or you'll never be rid of it.

Hmm, the leaves are shiny enough... They can also take over. This is a patch I've got just starting to flower

That looks very similar.
Don't suppose you have larger pictures of it do you?

I'll be pulling them out of that container tomorrow probably.
I just need to get some compost as I've just ran out after potting up a few things yesterday.
The left over soil will go into the green council bin, destined for the composting site so any weeds won't have the opportunity to get going in my garden.

I think they are Hemerocallis as well.

If so they will probably flower this summer, do let us know!

A bit of an off the wall suggestion, but they do remind me of Billbergia nutans or Queen's-Tears - but they aren't frost hardy so probably not them at all.

Yup...I'd go with day lilies too

...and I have to say that I adore the little violets...the flowers are brill frozen in ice cubes and served with cold drinks in the garden ( same for borage flowers too!)

Chomerley - you should be able to tell the difference between Carex, Hemerocallis and Montbretia with the roots.
Put a piccie up - my money is still on Carex
