    Yes Trix, that's just how they flowered, there a few more about to flower, they are quite tall, don't think I have the packet anymore unfortunately, so can't tell you what they are.

      The poppy is papaver somniferum and mauvy pink is their normal colour. I grew the black double form of this poppy last year and it looked impressive. I think their foliage is also very attractive. PS comes in lots and lots of different gorgeous colours these days.

        I've never tried it, but I gather our climate isn't hot enough to get a useable opium crop. So the plants are purely decorative / ecological.

          I've just looked that variety up, didn't realise it was an 'opium type' poppy, like it.
