Is it an allium of some sort? If so it'll smell of onions

No scent of any kind, it just has long strappy leaves at the base and grows to about 1m tall. I thought along the lines of a Helebore.Comment

Yes, they are very pretty but they are real thugs like spanish bluebells. Every year I have to dig out at least half of them or they would swamp my flower beds. They still come back in force the following spring like nothing happened. Bees love them just like all alliums.
I think they are best restricted to a "wild" patch.Comment
