I inherited a honeysuckle with this garden that had been grown as a sort of standard. it had one stem, and a tangle of branches attached to the wall. Earlier this year i gave it a radical prune, and it has grown back beautifully. I want to train it against the wall and have been tying in the branches along the wires, and removed any extra ones. These branches now have many side shoots some of which are getting quite big. What should i do with these please.

I would think if they don't fall into your planned overall shape,trim them out would be the answer.Maybe set a few cuttings into flower pots as a backup in case the original plant has some sort of disasterHe who smiles in the face of adversity,has already decided who to blame

They may not flower this year - they all look very young shoots to me. Just train them into shape and cut off any that don't fit. Mine all got a big hack back in spring and lo and behold, my best year ever for flowers
