  • Is this a calendula?

This flower appeared on my allotment, it's really pretty. The photo doesn't really do justice to the colour, it's almost neon orange. I'm assuming it's some sort of calendula, but I can't find it in seed catalogues. It's grown to around 3 foot, and is covered in flowers - foliage and buds very similar to a calendula. Can anyone identify it?

I'd say it was calendula. They come in all different colours and petal numbers. I have lots here - love 'em

I'd say so. This seemed the closest to your picture. Take a look at the rest of the images to find the particular type. http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com.../calendula.jpg

Thanks VC and BertieFox. I'm not sure where it came from as I've only ever grown calendula officinalis But I'll save some seeds from this one, it's really pretty.

The seeds tend to go everywhere which is a nice bonus - I love annuals that do this.

If your fingers feel all sticky and gacky after you've picked or deadheaded them ... then it is calendula, yes

Deffo calendula, I have some of those, I prefer them to the fuller/frillier petalled ones.
