  • Potting mix for Lavender

    Hello

I have a rather nice potted Lavender plant that I purchased from a market stall and repotted as soon as I got home.... it was way to small. It's doing very nicely but as I do, I go and read about the best thing to plant things in.

It is in a mix of normal garden soil with broken crock at the bottom for drainage (with holes in the pot as usual). I water it when it needs it as it is not in the ground and dries out quicker.

Should I have used potting compost with perlite or grit instead? I know that they like poor soil and don't like overwatering when they are established.

Do they need feeding? I read that some potash is good... anyone here bother?

You're right, they do well in poor dry soil. Most of mine are in the ground (they love our sandy light soil). I have one in a pot and I let it get really dry before watering.
I don't feed them, but if they looked hungry I'd give them a dash of comfrey tea, same as all the rest get
