Laveteria dying

Well I bought this pink lavetera in late spring from a nursery. Potted it on in decent nursery professional compost and it flowered. kept in full sun but all the flowers died and no more have come. The stem looks shabby and on death's door. I have had this variety of plant in the past and it grew like a triffid and lasted years.

What could possibly be wrong ? :-(

Photos would help. It really could be anything but my first thought would be lack of water, or the pot drying out too quick. If it's in a pot, how are you watering it, how often, how big is the pot, how big is the plant?

Looking back through the threads you have started over the last year,you do seem to be having a very bad time of things ,is there anything that is growing well ? this may give an indication as to what's going wrong with your other stuff.

Are you near fields that are being sprayed ?

I'm also wondering what has grown well for you? Perhaps you need to grab a few books from the library, cut down the number of crops you are growing and concentrate on one or two that have done better for you. Go back to basics. Remember vegetables that come from the garden aren't like shop veg. They are often misshapen, leaves look ravaged, maybe a little white fly. Perhaps try to take a brighter look at things. Gardening should be fun.

Well it looks like the bit of new growth on it has died. I absolutely have no idea why this has happened as these plants are very vigorous and hardy. I have it in a well drained pot and watered when needed. Is there anything I can do to revive it ?

How about taking out of the pot and checking the roots? Plant up in new compost, water in well, cut all the dead away and cross your fingers and toes.

I recently did that and the roots were still there but the new growth that was there at the time has since died. I might try that and see what happens though but it is only a small plant anyway.

Advice gratefully accepted. I bought these two Lavetera Barnsley Baby plants from T&M a few weeks ago but all the growth seems to have died off. I used to have a larger Lavetera in the garden which we always cut down in October so I've no idea if this is normal or if they have died on me. They have been repotted and kept indoors since I bought them. Any thoughts?

Lavatera are short lived but not that short! You checked for red spider, leaves look odd.

I'd send T&M photos and see if you can get replacements. Their "original" price of £24 for two 7cm pots is taking the p, so is their offer one of £12 is too. If you want to replace them wait till spring and get a decent size plant at a decent price and take cuttings.

Suppose I can't really complain, they only cost £2.00 in an offer but was really looking forward to growing them on in the spring. Thanks Danny for your advice, I think I will send them the photo and see what they say.

Well got an email from Thompson and Morgan which came across as condescending to say the least. Basically according to them I've let the soil dry out completely causing them to be poorly. They cannot be held responsible. Soil is damp and they have been looked after as per instructions, what can you do?
