  • nasturtiums fading

I bought a pot of healthy nasturtiums from a nursery and sat them in the pot among the flowers in the raised bed. I haven't planted them in case I wanted to move them. Just of late the leaves have been getting smaller and smaller and they are not producing any more flowers.

    What could be wrong ?

First few words give you the answer Marb, they obviously don't like being in the pot.
Another failure looming ,plant them out properly ASAP

How long have they been in the pot? Some of my nasturtiums are coming to an end and I notice that they also get smaller as that happens. Are there any seeds that you can take to scatter about?

The one I pulled up about a month ago had lots of seeds under it that are now popping up happily in the bed.

Carefully tip it out of the pot and look at the roots.

If there are no white ones, then it may have been waterlogged and the delicate roots have rotted , or it may have been too dry and the fine roots have dried up.
If there are plenty, then maybe it's been in the pot too long and run out of nutrients?
Alternatively, it IS coming to the end of the season and if it's in a shady place stick it in the soil in a sunny spot.
If it's covered with seeds, remove them as this will be telling the plant it's job is done and it can die back now.

If you think it's been too dry...sit the pot in some water with feed to give it a good drenching for an hour and then plant it in a sunny position.

These are tough plants as far as lack of water goes...they usually last until the first frost.

I notice you are a photographer- why not post a piccie of the plant and it's root system, then we can better help you!
