  • Sunflower seed all husk no kernel

This year I have grown a few Mongolian Giant and some generic Sunflowers for a bit of fun. I am pleased to report that we enjoyed some tall plants with big heads.

They are now looking a little sorry for themselves. I would like to harvest some of the seeds (I will also be allowing the birds a share) for eating/cooking and a few seeds to use next year.

So far, I have only dealt with one generic flower. I have found that the seeds are quite large compared to the kernel inside - is this normal?

Does it matter which seeds are kept for next year?

    Thank you!

While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

Did you manage to grow any of these? I have just harvested some seeds and found the kernels are tiny. The plan was to grow loads next year as it's my favourute flower and this one was a lovely dwarf with a huge flower.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
