  • Marigold seed

Can some be curly? I've got seed heads but the only thing in them are curled knobbly things, they are self seeded so not something I've grown. Not how I'm used to seeing marigold seed or am I too late and the seeds have scarpered? Thank you

Note: they are a pot marigold, not a French - forgot to say.

Thank you Norfolkgrey, who would've thought they'd be so different. I'll get saving.

That's them. Shame I've no idea what variety they are. They self seeded all over the place.

If they are self saved chances are they will not all come true. Years ago I bought a packet of T+M seeds all yellow with yellow centres (forget the variety) I now have orange with dark centres, yellow with dark centres and yellow with yellow centres which I think is better.

I'm not worried about them coming true. They were all round my border this year. Next year I'd like them somewhere by design as well as round the border.

I let mine self seed and move the plants when they are big enough. Saves having to look after them.

                      I do that too.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

That's fine if you haven't got a mom who sees everything that isn't a plug plant as a weed. She digs up everything bless her.

Tell her to pot them on! No one is too old to learn the difference between weeds and flowers.

Yes, I do that too. I tend to keep the ones round the bed edges, and cut down/pull up the others to chop & use as mulch
