Borage Advice Please

I grew some borage from seed early this year - they did OK. However they have now died off - but....they have spread seeds for themselves that have grown into lovely flowering plants.
Is there any way of protecting them over winter as I know they are annuals?

I don't think you can keep them going over winter as annuals are very sensitive to temperature and light levels. However, if they self-seeded like you say, just wait until spring and they'll probably be sprouting up like weeds. If I understand correctly, you're saying that they've already self seeded from the ones you put in in spring. That may be because of the long summer and mild weather. They've probably got a bit confused. But I bet there will still be ungerminated seeds ready to surprise you in Spring.

My neighbour at the plot gave me a tiny little borage two springs ago and now I wish I hadn't planted it! It's everywhere. I don't particularly like it but the bees do. So for now, I'll let a few grow on every now and again!

Borage will self seed like a weed..as Voles has said, some of yours have popped up a little early. Don't worry my guess you'll have more in the Spring.

I sowed borage about eleven years ago in our garden. We always have plenty of it springing up all over the place now, and I have never sown it since then. Once it seeds well if you have any patch of vacant ground it will come back. Just throw the seed around when the pods are ripe and it will always come back.

Thanks for the advice - we moved in a year ago and just had lawn so the borage made a nice change.I love it so do the bees - we are lucky that a fella in our village has about 50+ hives so many of them are humming around all day.
As far as spring is concerned bring it on!
